As usual the Maranville Tournament was a beautiful and hot early Summer base ball weekend. In what would be the first of 3 2013 matches vs. the Elms, the Pride scored early and often in a victorious first tourney Match. A good beer inning followed, and the Pioneers discussed the Sunday Match vs. the Wheelmen while a parade of Forest Parkers paraded by.
No surprise, the Pioneers and Wheelmen matched up in the Rabbit Maranville Finals; and no surprise it was a low-scoring tough battle. It was just 4 weeks ago that the Pioneers and Wheelmen played the epic 11 inning dual, ending with a Westfield win. Where on May 18 the score was knotted in the 11th 2-2 with Saint hurling the first 10 frames, this contest was tied at 2-2 in the 7th. with Saint in the box. Well, today the Wheelmen would score 2 in the 7th and hold off 2 Pioneer rallies to hang on for a 4-2 victory.
